A major decision. Your questions, heard.

Spine Surgery Second Opinion in Mumbai

Spine surgery has been recommended, but you still have questions about why it is needed, what it could improve or whether the proposed operation is the right next step.

Before you bring the patient, we help you bring the case to the doctor of your choice.

Start with what matters

What do you want another doctor to review?

Spine surgery is a broad term. Your recommendation may mention decompression, discectomy, fusion or another procedure. We preserve the exact operation and spinal levels written in your records so your chosen specialist can review the actual recommendation, rather than a general description of back pain.

Your case may centre on

  • The proposed procedure and the symptoms it is intended to address
  • Treatment already tried and the response you experienced
  • Questions about the extent of surgery, expected benefit and recovery

Prepared before the visit

Questions for your chosen specialist

Pick the questions that matter to your family. We take them in your own words and record the answers shared during the consultation.

  • How do my symptoms, examination findings and scans support this operation?
  • What is the exact procedure and which spinal levels would be treated?
  • What alternatives are reasonable in my case, and what has already been tried?
  • What symptoms is surgery expected to improve, and what may persist?
  • If fusion or implants are proposed, why are they needed in my situation?
  • How urgent is the decision, and what should I clarify with my treating team while awaiting review?
  • What rehabilitation and follow-up would I need near home?

One organised case

Records to bring together

We arrange the history and reports by date, note gaps and conflicting details, and separate the family’s account from information documented by the treating team.

Share the records you already have. This is a preparation checklist, not a request to get new tests.

  • The surgeon’s recommendation with the exact procedure and spinal levels
  • Existing MRI, CT or X-ray reports and available images
  • Previous examination notes and a timeline of pain, weakness, numbness or mobility changes as reported to your doctor
  • Records of physiotherapy, medicines, injections and previous spine operations, where applicable
  • Current prescriptions, discharge summaries and your main unanswered questions

The consultation, documented for your family

Doctor-issued documents

We share prescriptions, written recommendations and other documents provided during the consultation. The documents available depend on what the doctor issues.

Redwood’s consultation notes

Our notes identify the questions raised, the advice recorded and any follow-up instructions shared. They are labelled as Redwood’s account of the discussion, not a new medical opinion.

Outstanding questions

We identify points the doctor could not answer from the available information and any next steps advised, including whether an examination is needed.

Before you enquire

Your questions, answered

Is this page only for spinal fusion?

No. This is an overview for families seeking review of a proposed spine operation. Use the procedure links below when your records specify fusion, discectomy, decompression or another named operation.

Can the specialist decide from my MRI alone?

An MRI is one part of the case. We include the existing clinical notes, symptom history and previous treatment. The specialist decides whether the information is sufficient or an examination is needed.

Do I choose the doctor?

Yes. You choose the doctor you want to consult. Redwood does not recommend, rank or select doctors. You can contact us to understand the service before you have all your documents ready.

What if the doctor needs to examine the patient?

The doctor decides whether records are sufficient or an examination is needed. We share that advice so you can discuss the next arrangements with your family and treating team.

How soon can the consultation happen?

We respond to enquiries within 12 hours. This is our response commitment, not a promise of an appointment or medical opinion within 12 hours. Appointment timing depends on the chosen doctor’s schedule.

Who receives the records and consultation notes?

We prepare the case with the patient or authorised family contact and share updates with approved contacts. Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal information.
