Reviewing an existing kidney transplant recommendation
Kidney Transplant Surgery
second opinion in Mumbai.
Medical term: Renal transplantation
Considering a kidney transplant and already chosen a nephrologist or transplant surgeon in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai? If you cannot go yourself, Redwood organises your existing assessment records and questions, takes the case to that doctor, and shares their recommendations.
You choose the doctor. We take your case to them.
Understand the procedure
What is a kidney transplant?
A kidney transplant is an operation to place a donated kidney into a person with kidney failure. It is also called renal transplantation. The transplanted kidney takes over kidney functions, but ongoing medicines and follow-up remain important.
This is general procedure information. Your chosen doctor assesses what applies to you.

Questions for your chosen doctor
Choose the questions that matter to your situation. We record them in your own words and take them to the consultation.
- Based on my existing records, am I a suitable candidate for a kidney transplant, and what concerns still need assessment?
- How does the proposed transplant timing relate to my current kidney function or dialysis treatment?
- What do the available blood-group, tissue-typing and crossmatch results mean for the proposed plan?
- Are there concerns about rejection or recurrence of my original kidney disease that I should understand?
- Do my heart health, diabetes, infections, previous operations or other conditions change the proposed approach?
- What anti-rejection medicines and monitoring would I need, and what practical support should my family plan for?
- How would follow-up be coordinated if I return to my home city after treatment?
Your existing case file
Records to organise
We put the transplant recommendation, assessment completed so far and current treatment into a dated case file. We keep the recipient’s records clearly identified and include relevant donor documents only when authorised.
Share the records you already have. This is a document checklist, not a request for new tests.
Bring together what is available
- Your nephrologist’s diagnosis, treatment summary and written transplant recommendation
- Existing kidney-function and urine reports, with dates so the doctor can review the trend
- Dialysis summaries, current schedule and access details, if you are receiving dialysis
- Available transplant assessment reports, including blood group, tissue typing, crossmatch and antibody testing where already performed
- Existing heart assessments, infection screening, vaccination records and relevant scan reports
- Previous transplant or major-operation records, hospital discharge summaries and blood-transfusion history
- Current prescriptions, allergy details and records of other ongoing conditions
- Any donor-related assessment documents the transplant team has asked you to include and you are authorised to share
When you cannot attend yourself
How Redwood takes your case to your doctor
- Tell us whom you have chosen. Share the doctor’s name, hospital or clinic, and the decision you want reviewed.
- Prepare the case with us. We organise your existing records, treatment timeline and questions, then coordinate the appointment.
- We attend with your case. Your Care Steward takes the prepared case to the nephrologist or transplant surgeon you have selected. We share the consultation documents and recommendations with you and the family contacts you authorise.
A video call during the consultation can be arranged if the doctor allows.
We respond within 12 hours of your enquiry.
