Reviewing a proposed procedure with your chosen doctor

Appendix Removal (Appendicectomy)
second opinion in Mumbai.

Medical term: Appendicectomy or appendectomy

Already chosen your general surgeon in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai to review your proposed appendix removal (appendicectomy)? When you cannot attend yourself, Redwood organises your existing records and questions, takes the case to that doctor and shares their recommendations.

You choose the doctor. We take your case to them.

Understand the procedure

What is appendix removal (appendicectomy)?

Appendicectomy removes the appendix, most commonly as treatment for appendicitis. A planned consultation after an earlier episode is different from a current acute illness. Urgent treatment advised by the treating team should not be delayed while arranging a second opinion.

This is general procedure information. Your chosen doctor assesses what applies to you.

Understand the proposed plan

What the operation may involve

Keyhole or open operation

The appendix may be removed through small incisions using a camera or through a larger incision, depending on the findings.

Earlier inflammation or abscess

Previous antibiotics, drainage or an appendix mass may affect the reason and timing for a planned operation.

Tissue findings

The removed appendix is usually examined. If an unusual finding has been reported, include the pathology and follow-up advice.

Your decision, your questions

Questions for your chosen doctor

Choose the questions that matter to your situation. We record them in your own words and take them to the consultation.

Your existing case file

Records to organise

We organise the ultrasound or ct reports and available images alongside your treatment history and the written procedure recommendation. We note what you want the general surgeon to clarify and keep the original reports available for the consultation.

Share the records you already have. This is a document checklist, not a request for new tests.

Bring together what is available

  • Ultrasound or CT reports and available images
  • Previous admission and discharge summaries for appendicitis
  • Antibiotic or abscess-drainage records
  • Current surgical recommendation and any appendix pathology report
  • Your written procedure recommendation, current prescriptions and allergy details

When you cannot attend yourself

How Redwood takes your case to your doctor

  1. Tell us whom you have chosen. Share the doctor’s name, hospital or clinic, and the decision you want reviewed.
  2. Prepare the case with us. We organise your existing records, treatment timeline and questions, then coordinate the appointment.
  3. We attend with your case. Your Care Steward takes the organised appendix removal (appendicectomy) case file to the general surgeon you selected and puts forward your recorded questions. After the consultation, we share the doctor's recommendations and consultation documents with you.

A video call during the consultation can be arranged if the doctor allows.

We respond within 12 hours of your enquiry.
